What Do I Do Next?

If you have had your bank account closed there are a few things we suggest you do.

  • Your direct debits won’t be paid after your account is closed nor will you be able to deposit money so open another bank account immediately (See list of banks that might help you HERE)
  • Ask your bank what information they hold on you by making a Subject Access Request HERE. If you are not happy with the response or you hear nothing after 8 weeks then complain to the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) HERE
Don’t be surprised if your bank doesn’t explain fully why they have closed your account – they are not required to do so in many instances.
  • Check to see if you have a CIFAS marker against you HERE
  • Find out what information SIRA hold about you HERE
  • Find out what information National Hunter hold about you HERE
  • If you are struggling to open another bank account or feel your bank is acting not according to their terms and conditions then please contact us – we may be able to help.
